Colorado's 2006 Champion: Gabrielle Bayless
When Gabrielle was 2, she developed carsickness. Days later, her grandparents noticed that her left eye seemed to be wandering. Worried, Gabrielle’s parents decided to see an eye specialist. The doctor immediately ordered an MRI and by the end of the day, Gabrielle was admitted to The Children’s Hospital.

Wyoming's 2006 Champion: Madeline Okano
On March 9, 1998, in Laramie, Wyoming, Madeline Okano graced the world with her presence. Doctors quickly knew something was wrong. Her skin tone shifted from pink to blue, and blood oxygen levels nosedived. Madeline's pediatrician arranged for her immediate transfer to The Children's Hospital Newborn Center, the only level 3 nursery in Colorado.
