Consistently ranked one of the best children’s hospitals in America by U.S. News & World Report  and Child  magazine, The Children’s Hospital is 100 percent dedicated to kids and their families. From infants to young adults and from the simplest to the most complex, Children’s combines top notch pediatric medicine with a unique kid-friendly environment. Children’s has 1,130 pediatric specialists in more than 47 medical and surgical sub-specialties offering 145 clinics and programs for every health care need. Children’s also provides care at 11 Children’s Care Centers across the Front Range, and more than 400 outreach clinics throughout Colorado, Wyoming and Montana. From medical breakthroughs to late-night fevers, Children’s provides complete pediatric care.

Helping Children Close to Home, Day and Night

In addition to helping kids at Children’s Care Centers close to home, Children’s is there for families around the clock. Children’s doctors and nurses know how scary it is to wake up in the middle of the night with a very sick infant or child. That’s why Children’s started an After Hours Telephone Care Program where parents and caregivers can call for medical advice.

The Children’s Hospital also sends pediatric experts into outlying areas to fill in for physicians who need a vacation or who are ill, making sure that those families still have access to health care                            when they need it.

Helping Kids in Need

Children’s treats the sickest children. Because many families are unable to fully or completely pay for their care, Children’s has become one of the most charitable hospitals in the state.
Children’s is there for children and families in need. Last year, Children’s provided more than $5 million in charity care for children whose families were unable to pay and $177 million in uncompensated care, which is the difference between the amount the government reimburses and the actual cost of care.

Building the Future

Imagine the Miracles is a $250 million, comprehensive fund-raising campaign. We are seeking support to build the world’s most healing pediatric facility at Fitzsimons, as well as to ensure that the brightest, most innovative and most caring people in pediatrics work at The Children’s Hospital. As of November 2006, the community has given Children's $227 million toward the total goal.

Most Healing Hospital

Building a new medical facility from the ground up is an enormous enterprise. Children’s new facility will cost approximately $508 million, including financing costs and project costs. Children’s will have three primary sources of funds for “bricks and mortar:” bonds, hospital operations and philanthropy. Imagine the Miracles will provide $150 million toward the cost of the new hospital. As of November 2006, the community has given Children's $227 million toward this initiative.

Best Minds, Hands & Hearts

The Children’s Hospital is only as great as the people who work inside it. Building The new Children's Hospital—alongside our research and education partner, the University of Colorado Denver and Health Sciences Center, and the Colorado Bioscience Park Aurora—offers us an unprecedented opportunity to recruit the best minds, hands and hearts in pediatrics to Children’s. To help in that effort, Imagine the Miracles seeks $100 million in additional support for Children’s. That amount includes the establishment of 11 new endowed chairs, $25 million for the hospital’s annual support; and $48 million for programs such as Oncology, Cardiology and Critical Care. To date, the community has given Children's $98 million for this initiative, including funding for eight of the 11 new endowed chairs.
